Ikeja Electric Plc (IE), Nigeria’s premier electricity distribution company, has received the esteemed Energy Times award for “Sustainable Development Company of the Year 2023.” This recognition highlights IE’s steadfast dedication to providing efficient service delivery and fostering community welfare.

The announcement was made at the inaugural Energy Times Awards ceremony. Mr. Kayode Ekundayo, the Managing Director/Publisher of Energy Times, commended Ikeja Electric for its substantial investments in the sector, aimed at enhancing power supply and infrastructure across its operational areas. He praised IE’s responsiveness and effective communication channels as pivotal factors contributing to its success.

Mrs. Folake Soetan, CEO of Ikeja Electric, expressed gratitude for the award and reiterated the company’s commitment to accelerated network upgrades geared toward improving customer experience. She highlighted IE’s recent investment of over N500 million in upgrading the Adekunle Fajuyi and PTC Injection Sub-stations, which will significantly enhance electricity supply to communities within Ikeja GRA, Opebi, and Maryland, among others.

Mrs. Soetan also acknowledged the dedication and resilience of IE’s workforce, recognizing their efforts in ensuring consistent electricity supply to homes and businesses despite challenges such as vandalism. She emphasized the importance of collaboration with stakeholders, including community leaders and security agencies, to combat vandalism and safeguard infrastructure.
