Charkin Maritime and Offshore Safety Centre has paid tribute to seafarers and maritime professionals across the world, describing them as the backbone of global trade and economic stability.
In a message marking International Workers’ Day, the organisation, which is based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, commended the resilience, courage, and professionalism of maritime workers, noting that their efforts continue to keep global commerce moving despite difficult conditions.
The centre acknowledged the sacrifices made by seafarers, including long periods at sea and time away from their families, while operating under demanding and often hazardous environments.
“Across oceans and beyond borders, your dedication keeps the world moving. Through long voyages, challenging conditions, and time away from loved ones, you continue to demonstrate resilience, courage, and professionalism that the world depends on every single day,” the organisation said in a statement shared on its Facebook page.
Charkin Maritime emphasised that safety, skill, and preparedness remain critical in the maritime sector, adding that it remains committed to providing high-quality training and support to ensure that workers return home safely after every voyage.
The organisation further described seafarers as “lifelines of the world’s economy,” highlighting their vital role in sustaining global supply chains and human connectivity.
Reaffirming its commitment to the sector, the centre pledged continued investment in training and safety standards to support maritime professionals.
“Together, we sail forward — safer, stronger, and united,” the statement added.
