TREXM Holdings Strengthens Commitment to Sustainability Through Community Cleanups and the Launch of a School Sustainability Club

Lagos, December 16th: For Immediate Release – TREXM Holdings has reaffirmed its commitment to building safer, cleaner, and more sustainable communities through the launch of its environmental cleanup initiative in partnership with the African Cleanup Initiative (ACI); a non-governmental organization with the mission of inspiring communities in Africa to be committed to environmental sustainability through environmental clean-up has launched its community cleanup initiative. This initiative will also include the establishment of Sustainability Clubs in Nigerian secondary schools, highlighting TREXM’s practical approach to advancing environmental education, youth engagement, and community wellbeing. The initial phase of the initiative will focus on areas within Victoria Island where the company is headquartered.

On 14th November 2025, 30 TREXM staff volunteered at least 3 hours of their workday to participate in the inaugural cleanup exercise of two streets in Victoria Island; Samuel Adedoyin and Sinari Daranijo. The initiative resulted in the collection of 489.6kg of waste, including 1kg of recovered plastic, reinforcing the company’s drive toward environmental protection and responsible waste management. The activity fostered teamwork, community spirit, and environmental stewardship among participants. Reflecting on the experience, one TREXM volunteer shared: “The experience was very good. I really looked forward to it, and the exercise surpassed my expectations.”

TREXM also visited Kuramo Junior College, Victoria Island on 21st November 2025, where it launched its first Sustainability Club with 53 students signing up after an engaging session on environmental responsibility and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with over 300 students. Volunteers from TREXM and ACI enlightened the students to understand their role in shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future. “I had never heard about a Sustainability Club before, and it’s really cool that we can be part of it,” said one of the students. TREXM closed the visit by donating essential STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) learning materials to the school.

“This initiative isn’t a one-off. It’s part of our long-term commitment to the communities we operate in and Nigeria as a whole,” said Grace Okogwu, Corporate Communications Analyst driving community impact and engagement initiatives at TREXM. “By educating young people and taking direct environmental action, we’re helping build a greener and more resilient future,” concluded Grace.

The two projects reinforce TREXM’s contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, marking meaningful steps toward improving environmental practices within its host community and Sustainable Development Goal 4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
