TotalEnergies to Restart $20 Billion Mozambique LNG Project by Summer 2025
Patrick Pouyanné, Chief Executive Officer of TotalEnergies, has confirmed that development of the company’s $20 billion Mozambique Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project is set to resume this summer. The announcement was made during a session at the Japan Energy Summit in Tokyo.
The project, which has been under force majeure since 2021 due to militant attacks in northern Mozambique, will restart following improved security conditions in the region.
The LNG initiative involves the development of the Golfinho and Atum gas fields in the Offshore Area 1 concession, and the construction of a two-train liquefaction plant with a projected annual output of 13.12 million metric tons.
