TCN Schedules Maintenance on Bauchi Substation Transformer, Assures No Power Disruption
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled maintenance exercise on one of its critical 60MVA power transformers at the 132/33kV Bauchi Transmission Substation. The exercise will take place on Monday, September 15, 2025, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.
In a statement signed by Ndidi Mbah, General Manager of Public Affairs, TCN reassured electricity consumers that the maintenance will not lead to any power outage in the areas served by the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC).
Load Transfer Plan in Place
The company explained that during the two-hour maintenance window, electricity load will be temporarily transferred to a third 60MVA transformer within the Bauchi substation. This backup transformer has sufficient capacity to absorb the entire load, ensuring seamless power supply to consumers.
“Consequently, no area under the JEDC’s franchise taking supply from the said transformer will be affected during the maintenance period, as normal bulk power will be made available to JEDC,” the statement read.
Part of Ongoing Infrastructure Commitments
TCN said the maintenance is part of its proactive infrastructure management strategy, which prioritises both expansion and consistent servicing of existing equipment.
“It is important to note that apart from the consistent rehabilitation and expansion of projects by the company, TCN is committed to prompt equipment maintenance for optimal service delivery,” the utility company added.
The move is expected to reassure consumers in Bauchi and surrounding areas that TCN remains committed to ensuring reliable and uninterrupted transmission services, even while maintaining its facilities.
