SPE Nigeria Unveils SPE NAICE 2025 to Shape Nigeria’s Sustainable Energy Future
Over 4,000 participants, 80+ exhibitors, and industry-shaping conversations expected in Lagos

LAGOS, August 1, 2025 — The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council has officially launched the 2025 edition of its flagship conference, the SPE Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (SPENAICE), with a bold agenda to redefine Nigeria’s energy trajectory. Scheduled to hold from August 2nd to 6th in Lagos, this year’s event carries the theme: “Building a Sustainable Energy Future: Leveraging Technology, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Policy.”

Speaking at the unveiling press conference, SPE Nigeria Council Chair, Dr. Amina Danmidanmi, described SPENAICE as more than a conference—it is “where Nigeria’s energy past meets its future, and solutions move from conversation to action.”

According to Danmidanmi, over 4,000 energy professionals and stakeholders from Nigeria and around the world are expected to participate. The conference will host more than 80 exhibiting companies, two high-level leadership panel sessions, as well as youth engagement programs, family initiatives, technical workshops, and social networking events.

“SPENAICE 2025 comes at a pivotal time,” she said. “Nigeria’s energy sector is navigating a period of transition, rich with both opportunity and responsibility. We need to act decisively.”

The 2025 conference aims to bridge the challenges of global energy shifts—driven by climate concerns and digital transformation—with local priorities such as energy security, economic growth, and sustainability.

Four Pillars for Transformation

The central theme calls attention to four strategic pillars: technology, supply chain development, human capital, and policy frameworks. Danmidanmi noted that Nigeria currently produces approximately 1.75 million barrels per day of crude oil and condensates, with a national goal to reach 2.7 million barrels per day by 2030, while tapping into its 209 trillion cubic feet of gas as the preferred transition fuel.

“Meeting these targets will demand enhanced recovery, gas monetization, infrastructure reliability, and robust pipeline security,” she added. “SPENAICE 2025 will spotlight the technical expertise and real-world solutions driving us forward.”

She emphasized the importance of local capacity, especially in the wake of massive asset divestments by international oil companies from onshore and shallow-water assets.

“This is a defining chapter in our energy story,” she said. “It challenges indigenous companies to step up and embrace deeper local content, operational independence, and workforce redeployment.”

SPE Nigeria is responding by fostering neutral platforms for technical exchange, building professional capacity, and connecting local operators with global technology partners.

Investing in the Future

Beyond the technical discussions, the 2025 edition is designed to engage the next generation through mentorship programs, youth sessions, and technology-driven exhibitions. Danmidanmi emphasized that SPENAICE is also a family-friendly platform, nurturing the engineers, thinkers, and leaders of tomorrow.

“We are not just talking about today’s challenges,” she said. “We are preparing a generation to solve tomorrow’s problems.”
