PETAN Honours SNEPCo MD Ronald Adams for Advancing Nigerian Content

The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) has conferred an Award of Excellence on Ronald Adams, Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo), in recognition of his contributions to deep-water production and support for Nigerian content development.

The award was presented yesterday by PETAN Chairman, Wole Ogunsanya, during a courtesy visit to SNEPCo’s headquarters at Eko Atlantic, Lagos. Ogunsanya described Adams as an “astute and visionary technocrat,” highlighting his role in sustaining SNEPCo’s industry achievements since assuming office in October 2023.

Speaking on Shell’s impact, Ogunsanya noted that the company has been central to building Nigeria’s local content capacity. “The history of local content in Nigeria is Shell. Many of us in the industry are ex-Shell, and through the opportunities Shell provided, service companies were able to grow capacity. Shell continues to play this role, and PETAN remains committed to collaborating with the company to raise local expertise,” he said.

In his remarks, Adams expressed gratitude for the recognition and praised PETAN member companies for their role in SNEPCo’s operations, particularly at Bonga, where production milestones have included first oil in 2005 and the one-billionth barrel in 2023.

Adams further emphasized that investments from international oil companies (IOCs) and independent producers would only yield lasting benefits when industry groups like PETAN apply their expertise to national development.

Founded 30 years ago, PETAN represents over 100 indigenous technical oilfield service companies, with combined annual revenues running into millions of dollars.
