NNPCL, SNEPCo Empower 150 Female Students With Career Readiness Skills
The one-day event provided a platform for young women to engage directly with top industry leaders and professionals in the energy sector and beyond. The initiative is part of a growing effort to close the gender gap in technical and leadership roles across Nigeria’s industries.
Delivering the keynote address, Head of Business Services at NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services, NUIMS, Nkechi Anaedobe, said the event underscored the importance of mentorship and collaboration in shaping the next generation of female leaders.
“This event provided a golden opportunity to pay forward the mentorship that helped me grow in my career,” Anaedobe said.
“Mentoring does a lot for the individual, the company, and society. It is a tool that is never too late to learn to use, and I am glad I was able to contribute to this while soaking up even more.”
She added that the Career Clinic was “a testament to the joys and impact of collaboration with a clear view of what good looks like,” emphasizing that such initiatives build the foundation for a more inclusive and resilient workforce.
Throughout the day, participants took part in hands-on workshops led by experts from NNPC Limited, SNEPCo, and other partner organizations.
The sessions covered employability skills, personal branding, leadership development, and mentorship, providing students with real-world insights to navigate their post-university careers.
The Career Clinic also builds on the success of the Top 100 Career Women in Africa Initiative, launched earlier this year, which celebrates female excellence and leadership across sectors.
Organizers said the program is designed to bridge the critical gap between academic achievement and workplace readiness, especially for women in STEM and technical fields.
A statement from the organizers highlighted that the initiative aims to inspire a culture of mentorship, empower women to pursue leadership roles, and promote equal representation in the workplace.
