NNPC GCEO Leads High-Level Fireside Chat on Securing Nigeria’s Energy Future at NIES 2026

The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, is set to take centre stage at the 9th Edition of the Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) 2026, where he will headline a high-level, investor-focused fireside chat highlighting Nigeria’s strategic drive towards energy security, market reform, and the attraction of long-term global capital.

The session, themed “Securing Nigeria’s Energy Future,” will hold at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja, as part of NIES 2026, which is convened under the broader theme “Energy for Peace and Prosperity: Securing Our Shared Future.” The fireside chat will be moderated by renowned energy and investment broadcast journalist, Ms. Vimbai Mutinhiri-Ekpenyong, and is expected to attract a distinguished audience of chief executives, institutional investors, financial leaders, regulators, and energy service providers from across Africa and the global energy market.

According to James Shindi, Chief Executive of Brevity Anderson, organisers of NIES 2026, the session reflects Nigeria’s commitment to positioning itself as a credible, reform-driven energy market where global capital, policy leadership, and commercial performance align.

Positioned as one of the flagship engagements of the Summit, the fireside chat is expected to deliver a candid and forward-looking assessment of Nigeria’s evolving energy strategy against the backdrop of global market volatility, accelerating energy transition pressures, and increasing investor expectations around governance, transparency, and capital discipline within national oil companies.

The discussion will place Nigeria at the centre of Africa’s energy economy, examining the strategic forces shaping national revenue performance, energy security, and investor confidence. It will also highlight how NNPC Limited is responding to production challenges, refining limitations, gas supply dynamics, and asset transitions, while pursuing a commercially driven transformation agenda aligned with international best practices and Nigeria’s long-term development objectives.

Key issues expected to feature in the conversation include the stability and security of Nigeria’s production environment, the repositioning of refining and supply systems to boost market confidence and reduce import dependence, and the balancing of domestic gas requirements with export obligations to support power generation and industrial growth. The session will further explore NNPC’s support for indigenous operators in the wake of international oil company divestments, the policy and fiscal frameworks needed to attract sustained investment in a transitioning global energy market, and the company’s progress in strengthening governance, capital efficiency, and value creation.

Kunle Odusola-Steveson, Conference Producer, noted that bringing NNPC’s leadership into direct engagement with international investors and industry stakeholders is vital for deepening confidence, transparency, and long-term partnerships across Africa’s energy value chain.

The fireside chat will conclude with an interactive question-and-answer segment, giving investors, partners, and industry leaders the opportunity to engage directly with NNPC’s leadership on Nigeria’s energy outlook, reform agenda, and long-term investment prospects.

The Nigeria International Energy Summit remains a premier global platform that brings together policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and innovators to drive dialogue, partnerships, and policy-led solutions shaping Africa’s energy future.
