NNPC Confirms Containment of Breach on Escravos–Lagos Pipeline
NNPC Limited has confirmed the successful containment of an incident reported on Thursday, December 11, 2025, involving a section of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) in South-West Warri, Delta State.
In an update issued on Friday, the national oil company said coordinated containment measures had been swiftly implemented, ensuring the safety of host communities, personnel, and the environment. All affected pipeline sections have been securely isolated.
A joint preliminary inspection was conducted at the site by technical teams from NNPC Limited, the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and maintenance contractors.
NNPC said its subsidiary, the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), which operates the ELPS network, has activated its Business Continuity Plan to manage the impact of the incident on shippers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Further updates are expected as investigations continue and restoration plans are finalized.
