Nigeria’s Energy Future and Investment in Focus as NAEC Announces 2025 Confab
The Nigerian Association of Energy Correspondents (NAEC) has scheduled its 2025 annual conference for October 9, with the theme: “Nigeria’s Energy Future: Exploring Opportunities, Addressing Risks for Sustainable Growth.” The event will be held at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos.
In a statement issued on Sunday, NAEC Chairman Mr. Ugo Amadi highlighted that this year’s conference will be rich in content and relevance, reflecting key developments in Nigeria’s energy sector amid the global shift towards cleaner energy.
Notable keynote speakers expected at the event include Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas); Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil); Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power; and Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Representatives from major international energy bodies such as the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), as well as CEOs of international and local oil companies, are also expected to participate.
Amadi noted that the conference will culminate in the release of a detailed report covering Nigeria’s energy investment outlook, recommendations for regulatory reform, a proposed stakeholder network, and highlighted investment opportunities.
Chairman of the 2025 Conference Planning Committee, Dr. Adeola Yusuf, emphasized that the conference aims to foster dialogue among industry experts, policymakers, and stakeholders, with a focus on addressing challenges and identifying opportunities in Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape.
He said discussions will revolve around unlocking investments, promoting sustainable development, and encouraging innovation within the sector.

Topics to be addressed include an evaluation of Nigeria’s energy policies and regulations, the investment impact of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), and the roles of regulatory bodies such as the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in enhancing investor confidence.
One of the major segments will focus on “Accessing Financing and Investment Opportunities for Gas,” with panelists examining the current investment climate, infrastructure development, the involvement of both local and international financial institutions, and innovative funding models like Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and crowdfunding.
Dr. Yusuf also highlighted a power-sector panel session titled “The Power Solution: Energy Infrastructure, Technology and Integration,” which will explore post-privatisation financing challenges, integration of renewable energy, and the role of technology in boosting energy efficiency.
