Nigeria Hits 100% Pipeline Availability, Boosting Oil Sector Confidence
In a major breakthrough for the Nigerian oil industry, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced 100% availability across all major crude oil pipelines in June 2025 — a historic achievement that signals growing stability and renewed investor confidence in the sector.
The announcement was made by NNPC Ltd.’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bayo Ojulari, during his keynote speech at the 24th NOG Energy Week in Abuja. Ojulari credited the milestone to a coordinated and sustained security intervention led by NNPC Ltd., which has significantly improved operational efficiency and crude output.
“This success reflects the impact of collaboration across industry and government, and our commitment to securing critical infrastructure,” Ojulari stated.
He also reported significant progress on the flagship Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline project, revealing the successful crossing of the River Niger — a major engineering hurdle. This development brings the pipeline closer to its completion target in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Ojulari highlighted that the success of the AKK project has been enabled by innovative contract restructuring and robust industry partnerships. He further affirmed that NNPC Ltd. continues to fulfill its cash-call obligations to joint venture partners, reinforcing its commitment to sustaining upstream investments.
Describing the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021 as a transformative legal framework, Ojulari said it has empowered NNPC Ltd. to take a leadership role in driving critical energy projects across Nigeria.
He concluded by urging a shift in the structure of the Nigerian Oil and Gas (NOG) landscape — moving beyond policy dialogue to performance metrics and deal-making as indicators of progress.
