NCDMB Continues Advocacy for STEM Education with Annual Science Quiz Competition.

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) recently concluded its 2023 Science Quiz Competition for secondary schools in Bayelsa State with an awards ceremony held at the Nigerian Content Tower in Yenagoa.

The competition, held in collaboration with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), aims to foster interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education among secondary school students, aligning them with disciplines crucial to the operations of the oil and gas industry.

“During the event, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, highlighted the competition’s significance in its 7th year, noting the improved performance of participating schools and students.”

“Represented by Esueme Dan Kikile, General Manager of Corporate Communications and Zonal Coordination, Ogbe lauded the increased participation of female students in the 2023 edition, expressing optimism for reduced gender gaps in technical disciplines and the oil and gas industry workforce.”

“NCDMB unveiled substantial prizes for winning institutions and students, signaling the Board’s commitment to bolstering STEM education efforts. Ogbe stressed the need for more schools to engage in future competitions, underlining STEM education’s pivotal role in national development.”

“Belary School in Yenagoa emerged as the overall winner, receiving valuable laboratory equipment, a giant photocopier/printer/scanner, and prestigious accolades. Runner-up schools Milkway Academy and Community Comprehensive Secondary School were also rewarded with essential educational tools and recognition.”
