NCDMB Commends PE Energy’s Human Capital Development Efforts in Niger Delta
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has lauded PE Energy Limited for its significant contributions to local content advancement, particularly in human capital development in the Niger Delta region.
The commendation came from NCDMB’s Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Ogbe, at the close of a Human Capital Development (HCD) training programme organised by PE Energy Limited in collaboration with Chevron Nigeria Limited and NCDMB in Port Harcourt.
The initiative, delivered through PANA Academy — the competency development arm of PE Energy and a subsidiary of PANA Holdings — reflects Nigeria’s broader drive toward local content excellence and skilled workforce development in the oil and gas sector.
A Year-Long Investment in Skills and Capacity
The 12-month programme, aligned with NCDMB’s 2020 HCD Guidelines and tied to the Chevron Makaraba-Utonana Gas Management Project, was designed to address the human capital gap in the nation’s energy industry.
Participants underwent eight months of intensive classroom learning, followed by four months of practical, on-site field training. The curriculum was crafted to equip trainees with both technical and vocational expertise, blending innovation with strong professional values to prepare them for employment and leadership roles.
One of the most notable outcomes was the immediate employment of six high-performing graduates by PE Energy Limited — a move hailed as a strong demonstration of the company’s commitment to sustainable local capacity building. The selected graduates were recognised for their outstanding competence, character, and adherence to the programme’s core values.
Commendations and Calls for Continued Engagement
Represented by NCDMB’s Manager of Human Capital Development, Mrs. Tarilate Teide-Bribena, Ogbe praised PE Energy Limited and PANA Academy for their efficient delivery of the programme. He reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to strategic capacity-building initiatives aimed at improving indigenous competence, standardisation, and global competitiveness.
Ogbe also urged stakeholders and job seekers to register on the NOGIC JQS portal to gain better access to training and employment opportunities, commending PE Energy for living up to the spirit of the HCD initiative by hiring six of the 46 programme graduates.
Industry Leaders Speak
Group Chief Executive Officer of PE Energy and Chairman of PANA Holdings, Dr. Daere Akobo, said the initiative was a tangible reflection of the company’s philosophy.
“At PE Energy, we are not just supporting Nigerian content — we are building it,” Akobo stated. “Through PANA Academy, we are directly investing in Nigerian youths, equipping them with future-proof skills to thrive and lead in the energy industry.”
He underscored the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving such developmental milestones, acknowledging the pivotal role of Chevron Nigeria Limited and NCDMB in providing technical support and aligning the programme with national policy goals.
Chevron’s representative, Nonso Echukwu, commended the partnership, describing it as a model for effective industry collaboration. He advised the graduates to value the rare opportunity they had been given and to apply their skills productively in their careers.
From the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Director of Human Resources — represented by Mr. James Odafe — echoed the Commission’s shared vision for human capital growth in the region. He praised PE Energy Limited for its ongoing commitment to youth empowerment across Nigeria.
A Celebration of Collaboration and Impact
The graduation ceremony, held at the PE Energy Centre of Excellence in Trans-Amadi, Port Harcourt, brought together key representatives from Chevron, NCDMB, NDDC, the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN), and academic institutions. Their presence underscored the programme’s wide-reaching impact and the strong stakeholder engagement behind its success.
