Minister of Power Vows to Stop N120b Annual Energy Theft Along Ikorodu-Sagamu Corridor

The Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, has issued a stern warning against energy theft and meter tampering, directing all stakeholders to work together on a transparent, science-based investigation to trace power losses on the 132kV Ikorodu–Sagamu corridor.

The warning followed alarming losses on the corridor, up to 100MW unaccounted for, costing an estimated ₦120 billion in a single year, according to monitoring data from the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO).

Tegbe gave the directive on Friday while meeting industrial operators on the corridor, where he reaffirmed government’s commitment to steady power supply under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

He was joined by NISO’s MD/CEO and Executive Directors, TCN representatives, and the MDs of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company and Ikeja Electric.
