Mbakwe, NNPC EVP Says Industrial Harmony Key to Nigeria’s Oil Production Target
The Executive Vice President, Business Services, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Ltd., Mrs. Sophia Mbakwe, has underscored the crucial role of industrial harmony in achieving Nigeria’s oil production target.
Speaking recently at the 2025 Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN,’s Energy and Labour Summit, PEALS in Abuja, Mbakwe presented a paper titled “Exploring the Link Between Industrial Harmony in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry and Attaining National Production Target.”
She stressed that collaboration between labour unions, the oil and gas industry, and the government is indispensable in sustaining production growth, particularly as the country navigates global energy transition and domestic economic headwinds.
“Amidst global energy transition and domestic economic challenges, collaboration between the labour, oil and gas industry and the government remains critical to achieving Nigeria’s production goals,” Mbakwe said.
The EVP lauded NNPC Ltd.’s in-house unions for fostering peace through constructive dialogue, noting that such cooperation has contributed to operational stability across the company.
“We commend our in-house unions for maintaining industrial harmony through constructive and meaningful engagement,” she added.
Reaffirming the company’s stance, Mbakwe said NNPC Ltd. remains committed to “workforce development, operational excellence and stakeholder partnerships” as part of its strategy to align with national production targets.
