Kano MAN: Dangote Refinery Reviving Moribund Companies

The Kano-Jigawa branch of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has applauded Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals for its transformative impact on Nigeria’s manufacturing sector, particularly in reviving companies that were on the verge of collapse.

Energy Relief for Manufacturers

According to MAN, the refinery’s intervention—especially through the reduction of diesel prices and the steady availability of petroleum products—has provided a lifeline for many manufacturers battling high energy costs.

Speaking at the 2025 MAN Annual Products Exhibition at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, the branch Chairman of MAN Kano and Jigawa, Muhammad Bello Isyaku Umar, explained that these measures are already helping “dying companies come back to life” by cutting production expenses, stabilizing operations, and preserving jobs.

He stressed that access to affordable diesel remains critical to the survival of small and medium-scale industries, particularly those outside the national grid or in areas where power supply is inconsistent.

“By improving supply and easing cost pressures, the Dangote Refinery is not only supporting the survival of existing firms but also laying the foundation for industrial growth and competitiveness in the region,” Umar said.

A Game-Changer for Industrial Growth

The association reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with Dangote Refinery and other stakeholders to strengthen Nigeria’s manufacturing base, describing the refinery as a game-changer in the nation’s quest for industrial sustainability and self-reliance.

Umar also noted that the refinery reduces Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products while bolstering local manufacturing capacity.

Partnership with MAN

Dangote Industries Limited is one of the major sponsors of the 2025 MAN Exhibition in Kano. Umar disclosed that MAN is already exploring new areas of partnership with the refinery to enhance energy supply and industrial growth nationwide.

He praised the Dangote Group for its longstanding partnership—spanning over five years—with MAN, describing the company as an indispensable stakeholder in Nigeria’s industrial sector.

Made in Nigeria: Revitalizing Local Industries

This year’s exhibition, themed “Made in Nigeria: Revitalizing Local Industries for Economic Growth,” brought together top manufacturers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and consumers in a showcase of innovation, quality, and resilience in Nigeria’s economy.

No MAN exhibition or trade fair, Umar noted, is complete without the presence of Dangote products, which continue to be among the most affordable, qualitative, and dependable in the market.

Products displayed at the event included Dangote Cement, Dangote Sugar, Dangote Salt and seasoning, Dangote Fertiliser, among others.

Wide Impact of Dangote Group

Participants at the event highlighted the broader contributions of the Dangote Group, including job creation, infrastructure development, tax revenues, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by the Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, also commended the exhibition. He described the gathering not only as a display of goods and services but also as a bold statement that Nigeria’s future lies in production, innovation, and self-reliance.

He emphasized Kano’s historic role as a hub of trade and industry, noting that the MAN exhibition reaffirms the state’s central position as the industrial heart of northern Nigeria.

Governor Yusuf further praised MAN for sustaining what he described as an “important platform where local producers and entrepreneurs come together to showcase their ingenuity, resilience, and creativity.”
