IPOB Threatens EEDC Over Persistent Power Outages in the South East

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a stern warning to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) over the continuous poor power supply in the South East region. The group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, in a statement released to the press on Monday, expressed dissatisfaction with the electricity distribution company’s services and billing practices.

Powerful criticized the EEDC for failing to provide consistent electricity to the region while simultaneously increasing electricity bills. He argued that the people of the South East are being unfairly charged for electricity they are not consuming, calling the billing system “wicked” and “extortionate.”

The statement also called on the governors of the South East to take action against the EEDC, urging them to explore alternative electricity providers that can offer more reliable and affordable services. Powerful emphasized that the recent electricity reform by the federal government gives states the power to generate and distribute electricity, providing an opportunity for the South East to improve its power supply.

Furthermore, Powerful expressed surprise that the South Eastern governors have not yet addressed the issue of poor power supply in the region. He warned that if the governors fail to act, IPOB will mobilize the people to protest against them.

In conclusion, IPOB has threatened to stop patronizing the EEDC if the company does not improve its services and billing practices. The group is calling on the South Eastern governors to take decisive action to address the power outage issue and ensure that the people of the region have access to reliable and affordable electricity
