Ikeja Electric Refutes Allegations, Threatens Legal Action Over Online Defamation
Ikeja Electric has dismissed what it described as a false and malicious publication circulating across social media platforms, particularly WhatsApp, accusing the company and its top executives of wrongdoing.
The electricity distribution company said the publication targeted its Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Folake Soetan, and Board Chairman, Dr. Kola Adesina, with claims it insists are fabricated and aimed at damaging the organisation’s reputation.
In a statement released by the company, Ikeja Electric maintained that preliminary findings indicate the group behind the publication, identified as the “Nigerian Global Business Forum,” lacks legal recognition both within Nigeria and internationally.
The company further stated that the individuals who allegedly endorsed the publication, identified as Dr. Alaba Kalejaiye and Musa Ahmed, do not possess verifiable professional credentials or publicly traceable profiles.
According to Ikeja Electric, the circulating claims misrepresent the company’s operational procedures, safety performance, and financial management structure.
The firm disclosed that it has engaged its legal team to conduct a comprehensive forensic investigation and commence defamation proceedings against those responsible for authoring, publishing, or distributing the report.
While reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, Ikeja Electric warned that it would not tolerate deliberate attempts to erode public trust through misinformation campaigns.
