Heirs Energies, World Literacy Foundation Launch Sun Books Digital Literacy

As the world marks International Literacy Day 2026 under the theme, “Literacy for people, the planet and prosperity,” Heirs Energies is proud to share the measurable impact of its investment in foundational learning.

In September 2025, Heirs Energies partnered with the World Literacy Foundation to launch the Sun Books Digital Literacy Initiative across two public primary schools in its host communities in Rivers State.

The results have been encouraging. At the start of the programme, fewer than half of the assessed pupils achieved the minimum literacy benchmark. By the end, nearly nine in every ten pupils had met that benchmark – 87% at Central State Primary School, Igwuruta, and 86% at State Primary School, Umuebulu.

These outcomes demonstrate what is possible when technology, teacher capacity development and sustainable infrastructure are brought together with a clear commitment to improving learning.
