Heirs Energies, WLF Launch Solar-Powered Digital Learning in Rivers
In celebration of World Literacy Day 2025, Heirs Energies Ltd. has partnered with the World Literacy Foundation (WLF) to launch the Sun Books Literacy Initiative in Rivers State, benefitting more than 500 pupils in its OML 17 host communities.
Students at Central State Primary School, Omuohia-Igwuruta, and Umuebulu Primary School will receive solar-powered tablets loaded with curriculum-based content. Solar panels will also be installed to ensure uninterrupted digital learning.
Heirs Energies CEO Osa Igiehon said the initiative reflects the firm’s Africapitalism philosophy: “Our investment in literacy is an investment in the next generation of leaders. With Sun Books, we are equipping children to dream beyond their circumstances.”
WLF CEO Andrew Kay described the collaboration as a model of “cross-sector innovation,” while HRM Dr. Samuel Amaechi, Chairman of the OML 17 Host Communities Development Trust, praised the project as “a legacy investment in education.”
The initiative aligns with UN SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and 7 (Clean Energy).
