Energia Showcases Indigenous Leadership, Sustainable Growth at Africa Energy Week 2025

Cape Town, South Africa – Nigerian independent energy firm Energia Limited is set to play a prominent role at the upcoming Africa Energy Week (AEW) 2025, taking place from 29 September to 3 October in Cape Town.

The company’s Chief Operating Officer, Oladimeji Bashorun, will feature as a key speaker at the Upstream Exploration & Production (E&P) Forum on October 1, joining industry leaders to discuss “Unlocking Africa’s Onshore and Shallow Water Potential – Strategies for Sustainable Exploration and Development.” The session will spotlight responsible resource development, regional collaboration, and indigenous innovation in shaping Africa’s upstream future.

Later the same day, Energia will participate in the Leadership Forum, co-hosted with Africa Legal and Olaniwun Ajayi LP, under the theme “Beyond Divestments: Unleashing Indigenous Capacity to Power Nigeria’s Upstream Growth.” Discussions will highlight how local companies are driving Nigeria’s upstream sector as international oil majors divest from certain assets.

Speaking ahead of the event, Bashorun emphasized the central role of indigenous operators in Africa’s energy future:

“Africa’s upstream growth story is inseparable from the resilience and ingenuity of indigenous players. For over two decades, Energia has exemplified this through steady, ingenious operations that continue to expand opportunities in Nigeria’s oil and gas landscape. We believe that beyond divestments lies a greater chance to unleash homegrown capacity, deepen local participation, and drive sustainable development that benefits both investors and host communities.”

Energia’s participation at AEW 2025 underscores its reputation as a champion of sustainable development, local empowerment, and efficient upstream operations. By leveraging its strong legacy in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, the company continues to demonstrate how indigenous energy firms are crucial to advancing national energy goals while delivering socio-economic value to communities and stakeholders.
