Eko DisCo Creates Excel Electricity Distribution Company as Subsidiary

Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc (Eko DisCo) has announced the registration of Excel Electricity Distribution Company Limited, its fully owned subsidiary that will oversee all electricity distribution operations in Lagos State.

In a public statement, Eko DisCo said the restructuring complies with the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC) framework following the Electricity Act 2023, which devolves market regulation to state governments.

Under the new structure, Excel Electricity Distribution Limited will operate under the joint oversight of LASERC and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Eko DisCo clarified that it has not been sold or taken over, maintaining that West Power and Gas Limited still owns 60 percent of its shares, while the Bureau of Public Enterprises retains 40 percent on behalf of the federal government.

The company assured customers that the change will not disrupt service delivery, emphasizing that existing staff, billing systems, and payment channels will remain in place.

“This restructuring will enhance efficiency, regulatory compliance, and service reliability,” the company stated, reaffirming its commitment to delivering sustainable electricity to Lagos residents.
