EFCC Hands Over N3.9bn Recovered Funds to NNPCL

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in a press statement issued on Thursday, announced the handover of N3,936,145,822 in recovered funds to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
According to the statement, the funds were presented at a brief ceremony at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja by the Commission’s Secretary, Mohammed Hammajoda, on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.
The Commission said the recovered sum was traced to fraudulent activities involving some actors within NNPCL, uncovered through what it described as diligent investigation and professional expertise. It reiterated its commitment to combating economic and financial crimes and serving Nigerians with integrity despite the risks involved in its operations.
The statement further noted that officials of NNPCL received the funds at the event, with the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mumuni Dagazau, commending the EFCC for its support in facilitating the recovery.
Dagazau, as quoted in the statement, described the development as a reflection of institutional cooperation, adding that NNPCL remains committed to reforming its systems and strengthening transparency. He also expressed optimism about continued collaboration with the EFCC in addressing operational challenges and promoting accountability.
