Dangote Revives Olokola Deep-Sea Port Project in Ogun
The multi-billion-dollar project, covering over 10,000 hectares, is part of the group’s Vision 2030 strategy to strengthen its logistics, maritime infrastructure, and export-led industrial capacity.
Located in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area and extending toward Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State along the Atlantic coastline, the proposed port is expected to serve as a major hub for regional trade and industrial logistics.
A delegation from Dangote Industries, led by the Managing Director of Infrastructure and Logistics, Capt. Jamil Abubakar, recently visited host communities in Ogun and Ondo states to renew stakeholder engagements ahead of project implementation.
During the visit, Abubakar said the project would boost Nigeria’s economic potential, improve port efficiency, and create opportunities for host communities.
He said, “The Olokola Port project is a major step in opening up Nigeria’s economic potential, strengthening trade, reducing pressure on existing ports, and supporting industrial growth.”
The port is expected to support the export of fertilisers, petrochemicals, and refined petroleum products, as well as future liquefied natural gas exports and the importation of heavy industrial equipment
The company said it would continue engaging host communities throughout the project lifecycle to ensure smooth implementation.
