Dangote Group has announced a strategic partnership with Honeywell International Inc. to support the next stage of expansion at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. The collaboration aims to boost the refinery’s processing capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028, reinforcing Dangote’s ambition to establish the world’s largest petroleum refining complex.

According to reports, under the agreement, Honeywell will provide advanced catalysts, equipment, and process technologies designed to handle a wider range of crude grades, improve product quality, and enhance operational reliability.

Honeywell, a Fortune 100 global technology and industrial company, has been a key partner to Dangote since 2017 through its UOP division, supplying proprietary refining systems, catalyst regeneration solutions, high-performance column trays, and heat exchanger technologies that support Dangote’s operations.

Beyond refining, Dangote is also expanding its petrochemical production. Using Honeywell’s Oleflex technology, the company plans to scale polypropylene output to 2.4 million metric tons annually—a vital material for packaging, automotive, and manufacturing industries.

The group is simultaneously advancing its fertiliser production in Nigeria, aiming to triple urea output from 3 million to 9 million metric tons annually. The expansion involves adding four new production trains to the existing two-train facility, responding to rising demand for high-quality fertiliser across Africa and international markets.
