Chevron Nigeria Reaffirms Commitment to Nigeria’s Energy Future During NNPCL EVP’s Visit to Escravos

Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s energy future following an official visit by Mr. Udobong Ntia, the Executive Vice President (EVP), Upstream, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), to Chevron’s Escravos operations base on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

The visit highlighted the strategic importance of Chevron’s role as one of Nigeria’s largest oil and gas producers and a key partner in driving the country’s energy security and economic growth.

Welcoming the NNPCL delegation, Segun Kuteyi, CNL’s Director of Operations and Chief Operating Officer, alongside Michelle Pflueger, Director of Asset Development and Chief Asset Development Officer, expressed appreciation for the EVP’s visit and reaffirmed Chevron’s six-decade-long commitment to Nigeria.

“Our business spans exploration, production, gas development, and deepwater operations—including the Agbami Field, one of Nigeria’s largest deepwater discoveries,” said Kuteyi. “At the core of our operations is The Chevron Way, our guiding framework built on trust, integrity, accountability, and innovation. We are driven by a mission to deliver affordable, reliable, and ever-cleaner energy for Nigeria and the world.”

During the visit, the EVP received a detailed briefing on Chevron’s integrated operations, which include onshore and offshore assets, the Escravos Gas Plant (EGP), and the Escravos Gas-to-Liquids (EGTL) facility—one of only five such facilities worldwide. The presentations covered Chevron’s major milestones, business outlook, production performance, and cutting-edge approaches to asset integrity and cost management.

Mr. Ntia commended Chevron’s strong partnerships with host communities, noting that this collaboration has been key to maintaining operational stability and sustaining the company’s social license to operate—especially in areas where other international oil companies have scaled back. He also praised Chevron’s innovative use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for real-time asset monitoring and urged continued collaboration across the energy industry to achieve shared national goals.

Highlighting Chevron’s alignment with Nigeria’s Decade of Gas Initiative, Kuteyi added:

“We are proud to support the government’s Decade of Gas vision through ongoing investments in cleaner energy, gas commercialization, and flare reduction. Today, 99.9% of our fabrication work is done in-country—a testament to our long-term belief in Nigeria’s people, partnerships, and potential.”

The EVP’s visit concluded with a guided tour of the Integrated Operations Centre, Tank Farm, and EGP facilities, where he commended Chevron’s operational excellence and continued investment in safety, innovation, and sustainable growth.

The engagement reaffirmed Chevron’s role as a trusted energy partner, committed to unlocking Nigeria’s energy potential, advancing local content, and delivering enduring value to its people and economy.
