Chevron Nigeria Honored for Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility at NIES 2026

Chevron Nigeria Limited has been recognized for its exceptional Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, receiving a prestigious award during the 2026 Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) held at the State House, Aso Villa, Abuja on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

The award was presented by Sering Modou Njie, Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Gambia, and received on behalf of Chevron Nigeria and the Mid Africa Region by Segun Kuteyi, Director of Operations, and Michelle Pflueger, Director of Asset Development.

Chevron’s CSR efforts were praised for going beyond traditional philanthropy, delivering measurable and sustainable benefits to communities and society at large. The citation commended the company for its strategic investments in education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, emphasizing that Chevron has consistently demonstrated responsible corporate citizenship.

Jim Swartz, Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria and the Mid Africa Region, reflected on the company’s 60-year presence in Nigeria, highlighting its commitment to societal growth alongside business success. “We recognize that the success of the larger society invariably translates to success in our business; and we believe it is in our long-term interest to add value to society as we create value for our stakeholders.  Chevron believes that affordable, reliable and ever-cleaner energy is essential to achieving a more prosperous and sustainable world,” he stated.

The award ceremony was attended by Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside ministers of petroleum and energy from other African nations, the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), captains of industry, and other dignitaries.
