ANOH Gas Project Records First Gas as Seplat, NGIC Deliver Landmark Energy Infrastructure
Seplat Energy Plc has announced the successful delivery of first gas from the 300 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) ANOH gas project, marking a major milestone in Nigeria’s drive to expand domestic gas supply and energy access.
The achievement followed the completion of the 11-kilometre Indorama gas export pipeline and the receipt of regulatory approval from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). On Friday, January 16, 2026, the ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC) commenced gas supply to Indorama Petrochemical Plant under firm and interruptible Gas Sales Agreements (GSAs), with four upstream wells brought online after being on standby since November 2025.
Since the commencement of operations, wet gas production has stabilised at between 40 and 52 MMscfd of processed gas delivered directly to Indorama. Condensate production has also reached between 2,000 and 2,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day (kboepd), with volumes expected to rise as the plant ramps up towards its full design capacity of 300 MMscfd.
Seplat disclosed that preparations are ongoing to begin processed gas sales to Nigeria LNG (NLNG) under an interruptible offtake agreement, which will further support the scaling up of production. Meanwhile, construction of the OB3 export pipeline by the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), originally planned as the primary route for domestic gas evacuation from ANOH, has resumed, with a revised completion timeline to be announced.
The ANOH gas plant was developed by AGPC, an incorporated joint venture between Seplat Energy and NGIC. The integrated facility comprises two 150 MMscfd gas processing units, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) recovery units, condensate stabilisation units, a 16-megawatt power plant and other supporting infrastructure. The plant has been designed to operate with zero routine flaring.
Located across the unitised OML 53 and OML 21 fields, the ANOH gas project is estimated to unlock about 4.6 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of condensate-rich gas resources. Seplat’s working interest 2P reserves in the unitised field stood at 0.8 Tcf as at the end of 2024. The company is expected to generate revenue through wet gas sales from OML 53 to the ANOH gas plant, as well as dividends from its 50 per cent equity stake in AGPC.
Seplat noted that LPG output from ANOH, combined with production from its Sapele and Bonny River Terminal facilities, will position the company as a leading supplier of clean cooking fuel in Nigeria. The project will also process previously flared gas from the Ohaji field, supporting Seplat’s onshore End of Routine Flaring programme and broader sustainability goals.
The company further revealed that the ANOH gas plant was delivered without any recordable Lost Time Incident across 17.5 million man-hours, underscoring a strong focus on safety throughout the project’s development.
Commenting on the milestone, Seplat Energy’s Chief Executive Officer, Roger Brown, described ANOH as the first of seven critical gas development projects identified by the Federal Government to commence operations.
“ANOH is the first of the seven critical gas development projects identified by Federal Government of Nigeria to commence operations. It is an important strategic project for Seplat, our partner NGIC, and Nigeria as a whole. It has taken a significant amount of commitment and hard work to complete the project in a part of the onshore Niger Delta with limited gas pipeline infrastructure, and we are extremely proud of this achievement. This is our third major gas processing facility onshore and increases our Joint Venture gross gas processing capacity onshore to over 850 MMscfd,” Brown said.
He added that the project would significantly improve energy access for Nigerians through power generation and clean cooking fuel, while supporting economic growth in host communities and the wider economy.
