African Energy Week 2025 Launches Africa-Focused Energy Transition Track to Drive Investment and Inclusive Growth

African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energies 2025 is set to spotlight Africa’s path toward a just and inclusive energy future with the introduction of a dedicated Energy Transition Track at this year’s landmark event, taking place from September 29 to October 3 in Cape Town.

Hosted by the African Energy Chamber, AEW 2025 continues its mission to eliminate energy poverty across the continent by 2030. This year’s Energy Transition Track will serve as a high-level platform for key stakeholders—from financiers to policymakers—to explore emerging opportunities in clean cooking, carbon capture, renewable energy, and green hydrogen, among other pressing energy topics.

Tackling Clean Cooking Access with Bold Strategies

With over 900 million Africans lacking access to clean cooking solutions, AEW 2025’s sessions will highlight scalable alternatives such as LPG, electric cooking, and bioethanol. Kenya, Tanzania, and Ghana are already making significant strides with national programs and public-private partnerships to accelerate clean cooking adoption. Panel sessions such as “From Firewood to Freedom: Promoting Clean Cooking in Africa” and “Monetizing LPG to Enhance the Value of the Barrel” will explore ways to tap into Africa’s growing LPG market.

Driving a Just and Inclusive Transition

Africa’s unique energy challenges and climate priorities have fueled the call for a just energy transition—one that balances development with sustainability. With Africa’s energy demand expected to require $240 billion in annual investments by 2030, AEW’s Energy Transition Track will focus on both the technical and financial strategies to meet this demand.

Recognizing the role of Africa’s youth, women, and entrepreneurs in shaping the energy future, AEW 2025 will also examine how local content, inclusive participation, and collaborative leadership can accelerate economic transformation. With the continent’s population expected to hit 2.5 billion by 2050, the conference will discuss how energy investments can also serve as catalysts for workforce development.

Uganda’s $10 Billion Energy Portfolio in the Spotlight

The Energy Transition Track will also host an Invest in Uganda spotlight session, diving into the country’s robust $10 billion energy portfolio. The session will explore Uganda’s conducive policy environment, vast untapped resources, and investment-ready projects spanning hydrocarbons, renewables, and infrastructure.

Additional Fireside Chats will feature industry leaders unveiling their Africa strategies and potential areas for partnership and dealmaking.
